Magical, Best-Ever Spiced Cider

On a cool night, there are few things more relaxing then cozying up with a snuggly blanket, good book, and a warm mug of deliciousness. And if you're not really a caffeine person (like me! 🙋🏻‍♀️) coffee isn't on the menu. The go-to for cooler weather? Spiced Cider!

Farm fresh apple cider in general is a tasty fall beverage, but something extra magical happens when you let it simmer with the right blend of spices. You want them warm and subtle, without being too bitter or overpowering.

While I've included the classics (cinnamon, cloves), want to know my secret ingredient? A dash of vanilla powder! You don't want to add too much, but it helps to balance out the flavors.

Spiced Cider Recipe

  • apple cider (4-6 cups)

  • juice of 1/2 a lemon (just the juice - don't do sliced as the rind can make the cider taste bitter.)

  • 1-2 whole cinnamon sticks

  • 1-2 TBSP whole cloves

  • 1 whole star anise

  • dash of vanilla powder*

Add all the things to a pot (I bought this camp coffee pot on Amazon* to use on the stove — it has a built in sieve by the spout so you can pour out the cider without getting the spices in your cup 👌🏻).

Set over medium-low heat and simmer at least 30 min. Let sit for another 30ish min.

Sprinkle with edible stars* before sipping. 🌟

What's your favorite cool-weather beverage? While spiced cider is my fave for fall, going into the holiday season Peppermint Hot Chocolate is totally my jam. C prefers a Pumpkin Spice Latte this time of year (surprisingly I'm not a huge fan). And of course I am always down for a cup of calming herbal tea no matter the season (preferably served as I soak in a bubble bath. 💆🏻‍♀️🛁)
