Confetti Embroidery {Free Pattern Included}
Not long ago I took up modern hand embroidery as a new hobby, and - like most things - I started to think about how I could incorporate confetti into it. (And no, I'm not talking about confetti stitches used in cross stitch. 😆) Turns out, you can have lots of fun sewing actual confetti on fabric as part of whimsical designs! Making confetti embroidery is my new favorite thing, and I hope some of my projects inspire you to get creative, too! I even designed my very own pattern you can download (for free!) at the end.
Fill Your Cup With Confetti
My very first attempt at confetti embroidery was what I'm calling "Fill Your Cup With Confetti" - I purchased this pattern from GetStitchDoneDesigns on Etsy, but replaced the flowers with colorful confetti (our "Star Light, Star Bright" mix, to be exact).
You can see a little vid of this gal on my Instagram here!
Confetti Wishes
Next I wanted to make a gift for Alexis, and when I saw the "Dandelion Wishes" pattern in Ashley Denn's Pop-Up Embroidery book*, I knew it only needed a little confetti magic. (So I appropriately used our "Own Your Magic" mix!)
To really amp up the sparkle, I used this shimmer fabric* - it's subtle, but in person it's an extra delight when the light hits just right.
Confetti In The Air
For this one I simply traced some hands, then added colorful confetti to mimic being thrown in the air. It just seemed fun and right.
Instead of finishing in a hoop like the others, this one I decided to frame and have to say am digging the results. I ordered a custom frame through Frame It Easy using this frame, and then ordered matting from their separate matboard page (Outer Dimensions of 10"x10" and Inner Dimensions of 7"x7" with a circle shape in the color Purple Iris).
Fancy A Cup of Confet-tea? {Free Pattern!}
Ok, this is the one I'm most proud of, as I designed the pattern myself! I got the idea a while back, and finally felt the confidence to execute.
You can view a video of the finished design on Instagram here! I used confetti from our "Believe In Magic" confetti jar and added a few extra mini stars.
I also framed this one with Frame It Easy - I used this frame, and ordered matting from their matboard page (Outer Dimensions of 10"x10" and Inner Dimensions of 7"x7" with a circle shape in the color Cloud).
(P.S. You can also view a video of how to frame embroidery on Instagram here.)

"I Am Confetti" Abstract Portraits
A few more original designs, these are where I like to let loose and have some real fun. I wanted to take the concept that we are all beautiful messes, but we can still strive to look for joy and color.
Does one of these fun little ladies speak to you? I feel like they each have their own story to tell. <3
So whaddya think? More confetti embroidery in the future? 😃
Sometimes I sell these projects I make so be sure to join the list to stay in the know on new goods. I also sometimes accept commissions, so feel free to reach out if you're interested in a custom confetti embroidery piece! You can browse all currently available art in the shop here.
