Spread Kindness Like Confetti: A Guide for Being Kind
Consider this your friendly reminder of the most simple and basic of human principles: be kind. In a world often filled with uncertainty and cruelty, it's easy to forget that showing kindness is a strength, not a weakness. In this guide we're sharing some of our favorite resources on how to spread kindness like — you guessed it — confetti! (And don't worry, we'll spread plenty of confetti, too. 😉)
What Kindness Means
The dictionary defines kindness as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
This means treating others with the highest level of respect, grace, and compassion.
Kindness means being intentional.
Kindness means acting with no expectation of return or reciprocity.
Kindness means simply being nice.
(Psst...Here in Confetti Land we also believe practicing kindness is an integral part of cultivating your own personal joy, which you can read more about in our Designing Happiness Series!)

How To Spread Acts of Kindness
Whether anonymous, random, intentional, or obvious, sharing acts of kindness is the quintessential way to put kind into practice. There are millions of acts you can carry out, but here are just a few ideas to get started:
Leave a sweet note for someone you love to find
Sing the praises of a local business by reviewing their business online
Bake cookies for neighbors or coworkers
Forgive someone for a mistake they made
Pick up litter and trash at your local park/beach
Compliment a stranger
Say “Thank You” (and mean it!)
Say “I’m Sorry” (and mean it!)
Hold open a door for someone
Pay for the person behind you at a coffee shop
Leave encouraging notes in library books
Tell someone how much they mean to you
Take yourself on a date
Mail a care package to a friend in need (confetti gift wrap is a must!)
Decorate rocks with encouraging messages and leave them in a public nature spot
Smile at someone
Practice gratitude
Hide Random Acts of Confetti around town
Write a letter, to someone else or yourself (Bonus if the envelope is confetti dipped! ;) )
Craft a Kindness Jar
As a way to memorialize all the kindness you're giving - or receiving - consider making your own Kindness Jar. You can add strips of paper with kind acts written down, and add a sprinkle of confetti each time you either add or remove a strip. Get the full tutorial - that includes a free printable - here!
Create a Kindness Kit
To make carrying out acts of kindness easy to accomplish on the reg, we suggest creating your very own kindness kit! These are items you can keep on hand (in your car, office, purse, closet, etc.) to share whenever the mood strikes. (Which is hopefully quite often! <3)
Some items to include in your kit:
Take What You Need & Make A Wish signs — free printables here!
Fortunes to nestle in cards, gifts, or books - free printable here!
Colorful, happy notecards (an entire "happy mail station" is highly encouraged!)
Compliment cards / quotes / notes of encouragement
Sweet treats / candies (fully wrapped, of course)
Small denomination gift cards (just $5 or $10 can make someone's day!)

A project in which rocks are painted/decorated and placed in public spaces. Since this idea began, there are now many groups and projects that utilize the concept of kindness rocks — there may even be a local group in your area to check out if you want to get involved.
